Rebirth

take me back to the window
where the sun bathed us
and birthed us anew.

When it rained,
we both claimed Rebirth.

When we shared a thought,
then pondered how the other
had understood so completely.

How could one live
beside the deepest part of a mind,
and choose to stay at the ledge?

We knew how close we were
to falling into madness,
but tiptoed about our fate, regardless.

When I get there,
will you be home?
